Dais Analytic Corporation Joins Trade Mission to China to Explore Opportunities for Their Green Technology

Dais Analytic Corporation is a nanotechnology business producing a versatile family of membrane materials - called Aqualyte - focusing on evolutionary or disruptive air, energy and water applications. 

This week I’ve been fortunate to represent Dais Analytic Corporation on a Business Development Trade Mission to China, led by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and members of her team, as well as members of the Department of Energy. The goal of this trip was to increase business opportunities for American green technology companies – like Dais and the other 23 businesses in attendance – in China, providing products and services for smart buildings, green data centers, carbon capture utilization and storage, energy efficiency technologies, and clean air and water technologies.

Clean air and water have been significant challenges for China, who according to the 2013 Trends in Global CO2 Emissions Report released approximately 10.3 billion tons of CO2 emissions into the environment. China isn’t the only large country challenged by impurities in their air and water, but they are aggressively making strides to implement change. Last November President Xi, along with President Obama, announced that both China and the U.S. would work together to meet both countries’ post-2020 climate targets.

This creates a tremendous market opportunity for American companies who are innovating in the green technology space. There is a demonstrated need for applications that can address issues related to water, air, and energy, and many fantastic companies who are already working with or possess proven technologies that make a difference.

Nanotechnology, for one, provides endless possibilities within the green technology and sustainability vertical. Nanotechnology materials can be used in applications for air, water, and energy to improve efficiencies while reducing costs. The development of these materials has become so advanced that we now have the control and selectivity to remove virtually any substance from wastewater, providing a sustainable source of clean water. Nanotechnologies can provide better heating, cooling, and refrigeration services as well, and also improve energy storage – thereby reducing associated carbon footprint.

The 24 companies who were invited on this trip, along with the hundreds of others developing technologies back in the United States, all have innovative products and services to offer that can help meet the needs of our fellow nations who face environmental issues. This Business Development Trade Mission to China was an important step toward introducing American green technologies to an outside market that has that great need. Successful implementation of these technologies will benefit our company and the American economy, but the benefits to the planet will be even greater.
