Deputy Secretary Bruce Andrews Celebrates U.S.-Polish Partnership in Aerospace Industry

Bruce Andrews, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, joined Polish Deputy Minister of Economy Andrzej Dycha on Friday, May 15 to commemorate a new business deal between Boeing Commercial Airlines and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) Aerospace Systems that will create more jobs in Poland. Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ new contract with United Technologies Corporation (UTC) Aerospace Systems substantially expands Polish manufacturers’ participation in Boeing’s aerospace supply chain. This contract demonstrates the high regard American aviation companies have for Polish employees.

Deputy Secretary Andrews said that Boeing and UTC Aerospace Systems “offer cutting edge technologies and innovative products and services that can help Poland achieve its defense, security, and economic goals, creating growth and jobs in both countries.”

The contract will support the construction of Boeing airplanes, including the Next-Generation 737, 737 MAX, and the 787 Dreamliner. It will create new high-skilled, high-value manufacturing jobs in Poland, and when combined with new manufacturing at other UTC sites in Poland, including the manufacture of auxiliary power units for the 787 Dreamliner at Pratt & Whitney in Rzeszow, the value of the work in support of Boeing airplane programs is expected to exceed $1 billion USD over the next 15 years. Boeing has been a proud partner of the Polish aerospace industry for more than 20 years, and this event marks a new milestone in the close and enduring economic partnership between the United States and Poland.
