David Langdon

Profile

David Langdon is Senior Policy Advisor for Economic and Statistics.  His policy portfolio includes data, skills, immigration, and general economic policy, and he works closely with the Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA) and the Minority Business Development Agency.  He also serves as a senior economist in the Department’s Office of the Chief Economist within the Economics and Statistics Administration (ESA).

He joined the Office of Policy and Strategic Planning in October 2012 and joined ESA in February 2011.  Previously he spent 5 years as a senior economist in the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of the Chief Economist and 7 years in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Mr. Langdon has extensive experience conducting data analysis for senior Federal officials on the topics across the fields of labor economics and macroeconomics. His most recent research has focused on reshoring, the manufacturing wage premium, the STEM labor market, and intellectual property-intensive industries.

Mr. Langdon received a B.A. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a M.A. in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Langdon also was a recipient of a Fulbright grant for graduate studies at the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain, where he spent several years as a student and research assistant.
