David Talbot

Profile

David Talbot serves as Policy Advisor in the Office of Policy and Strategic Planning at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this capacity, he is responsible for counseling Secretary Pritzker on the development and implementation of international economic policies, including trade, foreign direct investment, commercial diplomacy, and export promotion.

As a founding member of the Department’s Global Economics Team, David partners with senior leadership across the agency to coordinate the Secretary’s international economic agenda and address the broader geo-economic and geo-political challenges facing the Obama Administration. He is deeply engaged in the Department’s efforts to advance a number of top Administration priorities, including strengthening U.S. economic and commercial ties with South Asia and ASEAN, attracting international firms to do business in the United States, and helping more U.S. companies export and reach international customers.

David’s prior experience includes working on President Obama’s two presidential campaigns and as an adviser for a social enterprise in Kigali, Rwanda. He received his M.Sc. in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford and his B.A. in Political Science from Yale University. David is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
