Theodore LeCompte began working as Deputy Chief of Staff to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker in October 2013. In his role at the Commerce Department, LeCompte handles internal engagement and collaborates on strategic planning efforts that support the Secretary’s priorities.

Prior to joining Commerce, LeCompte was an independent consultant specializing in media strategy, operations and logistics for large-scale events. He has spent more than a decade as a strategic leader and communications professional, and has extensive experience in planning, managing and executing high profile events at the local, national and international level. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC, and later served as the Director of Events and Ceremonies for the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee, overseeing eight separate official inaugural events. LeCompte also served as the overall Media Logistics Coordinator for the White House and U.S. Department of State at both the 2009 Pittsburgh G20 Summit and the 2010 Nuclear Security Summit in Washington. He has also served in operational roles for the 2010 Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Beijing, China and the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee. LeCompte previously worked for the Center for American Progress and the Kerry Edwards 2004 campaign.

LeCompte is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science.
