My name is Nina Vaca, I’m founder and CEO of Pinnacle Group of Companies that includes Pinnacle Technical Resources, Provade, Skybox and MyPlates.
Pinnacle Technical Resources provides IT labor to some of the largest companies in our country and in the world.
My story is like many other American stories. My mother and father emigrated here from Quito, Ecuador, South America, and they found that their secret to the American dream was through entrepreneurship and civic leadership. I was born in Quito, Ecuador, I came here as an immigrant and growing up at my dinner table, all we ever talked about was this great country that we live in, the United States of America, where you can actually be anything you wanted to be if you were willing to make the right sacrifices.
When you talk about the minority communities, it’s important to understand that each and every minority community, although that may be African-American-owned, Asian-owned, or Hispanic-owned, they’re American businesses first. And every tax bill that they pay, every job they create, every product they manufacture, goes to benefit the American economy. And so there’s a lot of work to do that PAGE can do domestically here as we are working to rise our own middle class, I think entrepreneurship is an incredible ingredient and an opportunity to create and grow our middle class.
What excites me the most about being part of the PAGE initiative is the opportunity to really talk about the impact that entrepreneurship is not just making in this great country but around the world. And the opportunity to inspire other entrepreneurs to do exactly what I’ve had the opportunity to do, and that is start a business with a vision and a dream and have access to all the right networks that can help you succeed.
The beautiful thing about PAGE and the 10 people that were selected as ambassadors to represent global entrepreneurship is that we all come from different backgrounds. You have immigrants, you have non-immigrants, you have men, you have women, you have technology, you have education. And so the beauty of it, in and of itself is that we can work collectively together to support each other. I am living proof that programs like the Women’s Business Council, the United States Hispanic Chamber, Start Up America. They work. And I’m really excited to befriend each and every one of my colleagues as ambassadors and to work closely together in different communities and different sectors to represent global entrepreneurship.
