Why President Obama and Secretary Pritzker Are Going to the National Hurricane Center

The President is traveling to South Florida because he's gonna go to the National Hurricane Center tomorrow morning. He is going to tour the facility with Secretary Pritzker and they're gonna get a briefing from meteorologists about the upcoming hurricane season and what the expectations are for the storm season.
The President is also going to be there with Secretary Pritzker to talk with state local officials about steps they're taking to respond to prepare for a hurricane and be prepared to respond if a hurricane does hit Florida. The President has been a very diligent about making sure that the federal government is well positioned to support state local officials who'd ultimately be responsible for responding to a hurricane if one were to hit and the President's message to the people of Florida on this trip is that they should get prepared and they should be vigilant.
You know it's been nine years since a major hurricane hit the state of Florida and we don't people to get complacent. It's important for them to get prepared they can visit Ready.gov to see what steps they can take to ensure that they and their family is ready for hurricane season and the most important message is making sure that they're listening to the advice and instruction of state and local officials.
