National Processing Center (NPC) Headquarters
In business since 1958, the National Processing Center (NPC) is the U.S. Census Bureauâs primary center for collecting, capturing, and delivering timely, high-quality data products and services for surveys and censuses at the best value. Services provided include: mail processing, data capture, statistical operations, geographic operations, and call center support.
As one of Southern Indianaâs largest employers, our 80-acre campus is home to:
- Approximately 1 million square feet of data processing space (the size of 18 football fields) in Jeffersonville
- A flexible labor force, with the ability to rapidly expand and contract in size â from 1,700 to more than 5,000 employees â to meet changing work requirements and customers' needs
- Millions of forms processed annually
- Three strategically placed contact centers in Jeffersonville, IN; Hagerstown, MD; and Tucson, AZ
We process monthly, quarterly, and annual surveys which include demographic data, population statistics, economic indicators, housing statistics, business, construction, and foreign trade information, as well as others. Some of the censuses we perform are: the Decennial Census, Economic Census, Census of Governments, and the Census of Agriculture.
