NCEP National Hurricane Center (NHC)

Tour Information:

Public tours of the National Hurricane Center are available outside of the hurricane season for the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific, by prior appointment only.

Tours in 2016 are being conducted on select Thursdays at 10am from February through April when the staff and facility are available. All available dates for tours are filled. We will begin taking reservations for 2017 on January 9, 2017.

The free, 40-minute tour includes a briefing on the causes and effects of hurricanes; how our organization, technology and procedures work; and a walkabout the facility.

Directions to the National Hurricane Center:

Visitors may reach the National Hurricane Center from the Florida Turnpike (State Road 821). From the Florida Turnpike, take the SW 8th Street exit (Tamiami Trail or 41) east. From SW 8th Street turn south on SW 117th Avenue, and follow south to SW 17th Street. The National Hurricane Center will be clearly visible on your left.

Visitor parking is available near the main entrance on the south side of the Center, which faces SW 17th Street.
