SEFSC Stennis Laboratory

Co-located in Pascagoula, MS and Stennis, MS, the Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC)'s Mississippi Laboratory was established in 1950 under the Department of Interior as a Bureau of Commercial Fisheries field station. In 1970, the laboratory was transferred to the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service.

Since the early 1970s, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has had a presence at Stennis Space Center on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Southeast Fisheries Science Center lab at Stennis is one of NOAA National Marine Fisheries Services' regional science center labs.
