In Brazil, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to Join Top Business Leaders for CEO Forum

Pritzker is making her first trip to South America since joining the Commerce Department

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker will travel to Brazil from June 16-19, making her first trip to South America since joining the Commerce Department. Ahead of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff’s visit to Washington this month, Secretary Pritzker’s visit highlights the importance of further strengthening the relationship between two of the world’s leading democracies and economies.

Secretary Pritzker will first visit Sao Paulo, where she will meet with U.S. and Brazilian business leaders and tour the Albert Einstein Hospital to discuss opportunities for American firms in the Brazilian healthcare sector.

She will then travel to Brasilia to co-chair the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum alongside U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs Caroline Atkinson; Brazilian Minister of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade Armando Monteiro; and Minister Chief of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil Aloizio Mercadante. In addition to government leadership, the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum brings together U.S. and Brazilian business leaders to provide joint recommendations to the U.S. and Brazilian governments on how to strengthen our bilateral economic and commercial ties. The Forum underscores the important role of the U.S. and Brazilian private sectors in promoting more trade and investment between the two countries.
