Today, the United States Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) implemented the Secretary of State’s removal of Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. The revisions, on public display today at the Federal Register, eliminate references in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism.

On Tuesday, Secretary Pritzker traveled to Kansas City to address up-and-coming entrepreneurs as well as important community groups. She began the day with a roundtable at Digital Sandbox, a company that provides proof-of-concept resources to support the commercialization of new ideas and promote business and job growth in the Kansas City area.

Last year, the United States exported $2.34 trillion worth of goods and services—an all-time record. Exports from the United States in 2014 equaled the entire gross domestic product of Brazil and exceeded all commercial output in India, Italy, or Mexico. What is more, exports are an increasingly important aspect of the U.S. economy.

Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker delivered remarks at Coca-Cola’s 100th anniversary of its glass bottle patent, hosted at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Secretary Pritzker helped celebrate Coca-Cola’s iconic glass bottle design, which would not have become the symbol that it is today without the design patent it received in 1915 by the U.S.

Launched in 2007, the U.S.-Brazil CEO brings together U.S. and Brazilian business and government leaders to discuss how to strengthen bilateral economic and commercial ties between the two countries.

The Department of Commerce recently signed a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) with Microsoft that is estimated to save the department nearly $8 million in taxpayer dollars. The agreement, in effect for three years, will help Commerce achieve IT efficiency and user productivity goals through the use of the latest technologies that help the department work at the speed of business.

Yesterday, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce Bruce Andrews met with Korea’s Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) to discuss progress under the commercial dialogue between Commerce and MOTIE. During their meeting, the deputy secretary reaffirmed the mutual commitment to expanding trade and economic cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Korea.
